The role:
As a Senior Grant Development Specialist you will be responsible for securing 6 & 7 figure grants while providing mentorship to our grant research and writing teams. You are energetic, committed to excellence, share our values and are passionate about creating a better world. You thrive working in a performance-based, remote-hybrid work environment.
Your typical day would include:

Grant Writing: Developing award-winning grant proposals that persuasively communicate the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders. This includes designing programs and evaluation metrics as well as producing realistic, detailed and well researched budgets.

Quality Control: Reviewing the work of other teammates and providing constructive feedback to ensure that all funding strategies and proposals are complete, airtight and of the highest caliber.

Team Training: Provide regular training to the team to up level their knowledge and skills and help to build FundSource26’s online learning platform.

Database Project Management: Maintaining a database and deadline calendar of quality prospective funders; prioritizing and evaluating for current and potential clients.

Client Communication and Engagement: Cultivating strong relationships with clients and providing proactive support and recommendations to optimize their chances of successful grant acquisition.
Occasional Travel Requirements
Although we primarily operate virtually with our clients, in-person interactions with clients and team members provide significant value. As a Senior Grant Development Specialist, you can expect to travel 2-5 times per year for company conferences and to meet with geographically distant clients and to meet with the team in Montreal once a month. For local clients, you will have more frequent opportunities for face-to-face meetings.
What success would look like
In 6 months…You are demonstrating that you are able to think strategically and independently develop award-winning proposals that WOW funders. Our staff looks up to you and appreciates the regular training, coaching and feedback that you provide them with, enabling them to further excel in their roles.
By 12 months…You have won several major grants for our clients, are overseeing multiple projects and establishing new training programs, processes and procedures to help improve our organization’s efficiency and overall client success.
You are:

A masterful writer; you’re creative and able to adapt your writing to different audiences including governments, foundations and corporations. You have experience writing highly technical government proposals and are familiar with the language and how to meet the expectations of this audience.

An independent, fast-learner; you are happy to jump into an organization and educate yourself on the stakeholders, processes, strategies and systems that currently exist. You’re not afraid to ask questions and lead your own learning and development. You put yourself out there and possess the experience and confidence to quickly decide on a path forward and execute. You’re comfortable being given an end goal and figuring out how to get there on your own.

A strategic and critical thinker; you are able to see how things fit into a larger picture. You know how to strategically communicate your messages within the context of different organizations and their goals. You can adapt and quickly pivot as you receive new information. When presented with multiple, competing priorities, you are able to understand how to prioritize and achieve the most important steps first.

A natural born leader and communicator; you love to share all the lessons learnt and frameworks you have developed from years of hands on experience in the field. You are excited about the opportunity to build a grant funding training program, help improve processes and procedures and act as a mentor and coach to our staff.
In the past you’ve:

Earned a Master’s Degree in communications, journalism, public health or related field

Worked in the non-profit sector for a minimum of 5-7 years and have a demonstrated history of successfully securing 6 and 7 figure grants

Trained & mentored individuals and/or teams on the ins and outs of grant funding
-
Excelled at managing multiple competing projects
