Justification

The Digital Core FileX team is responsible for managing and enhancing BMO’s enterprise-grade file transfer solutions using IBM Sterling technology. We support critical business operations by delivering secure, scalable, and automated file exchange capabilities across internal and external systems. As part of our modernization efforts, we are integrating AWS-based services and streamlining operational workflows to improve efficiency and reliability.

We are also expanding our capabilities in data analytics to improve monitoring, reporting, and decision-making. The successful candidate will bring experience in Power BI and Python to support these initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain solutions using IBM Sterling File Gateway and related technologies.
  • Identify and implement improvements in file transfer processes and operational workflows.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver integrated solutions.
  • Support integration of FileX components with AWS services and cloud-native tools.
  • Build reusable modules and frameworks to streamline onboarding and configuration.
  • Ensure high availability, security, and performance of file transfer systems.
  • Document technical designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Work with DevOps and cloud engineering teams to enable CI/CD and automated deployments.
  • Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports to visualize system performance, operational metrics, and business insights.
  • Use Python to automate data processing, build monitoring scripts, and support analytics workflows.
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for optimization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in enterprise file transfer development, preferably with IBM Sterling File Gateway.
  • Experience with AWS services and serverless architecture is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Java, or TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI, including the ability to create dashboards and reports from various data sources.
  • Strong understanding of data analytics concepts and tools.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools e.g., JIRA and deployment automation.
  • Strong understanding of secure file transfer protocols (SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS) and encryption standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills for both technical and business audiences.
  • Self-driven, customer-focused, and able to work independently and collaboratively.

Salary:

$61,600.00 - $113,900.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
