We are building the next generation of expertise in grid operations, and the Engineer in Training, ADMS Applications is part of this exciting growth. In this position, you will gain hands-on experience with the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), and other applications that support ENMAX’s real-time operations. As a member of an expanding team, you will be encouraged to learn, collaborate, and develop your technical skills while contributing to the safe and reliable delivery of power to the community.
Major Responsibilities:
- Deploy, configure, and maintain the ADMS suite and advanced applications therein for Distribution Operations.
- Ensure applications are running optimally to support real-time grid monitoring and control.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for SCADA, ADMS, and related applications.
- Develop, validate, and update real-time power system network models, ensuring accurate representation of distribution and transmission assets, topology, and telemetry
- Coordinate model updates with Operations, Planning, Protection, and GIS teams to reflect system changes, outages, and new infrastructure
- Provide training and support to Control Room Operators, Engineers, and analysts.
- Configure and maintain the ADMS and its interfaces to inter-connected control systems and corporate systems.
- Liaise with multiple ENMAX Power Company functional groups to ensure the timely and accurate transfer of data between the ADMS and inter-connected systems.
- Plan the reliable, orderly, and secure development of power utility automation systems, including preparation of business cases.
- Liaise with the Security Specialist on the development and enhancement of automation security systems meeting applicable industry standards.
- Prepare System Operating Procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of the ADMS and associated systems.
- Provide after-hours duties as part of the on-call roster.
Education Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- Registered as an Engineer in Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
Qualifications & Experience:
- 2+ years of experience with an Industrial Operations support team, electrical utility, or engineering consulting firm.
- Direct experience in one or more of the following areas is required: Outage Management Systems; Distribution Management Systems; SCADA Master Systems; Geographic Information Systems; Power systems electrical modeling software; Geospatial Transformation and Load software, or Industrial Control Systems.
- Experience with the General Electric Vernova suite (Eterra, GridOS) is an asset.
- Well-developed programming and system troubleshooting skills.
- Direct experience with Windows operating system deployment and server management.

Salary: Engineer in Training Family Level A (Current CUPE 2025 rates)
$81,593.69 - $86,692.06 - $91,790.43 - $96,888.79 - $101,987.16
Location: This role will be part of our hybrid work model that includes Core Days in office (Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays), and more time to focus on Mondays and Fridays, either in the office or at home. The office workspace is located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB).
