About The Role We are seeking an Assistant Principal Statistical Geneticist for our growing Human Genetics team at Insmed Cambridge! As a member of our team, you will apply your expertise in statistical genetics to conduct exciting research supporting our proprietary technology platform of ‘Synthetic Rescue’ and direct target discovery. We use datasets consisting of hundreds of thousands of humans to identify novel therapeutic targets and collaborate with our extensive wet lab team to drive these targets to the clinic. You will be a senior member of the team playing a key role in building the platform, developing our statistical genetics toolkit and leading groundbreaking scientific research.
What You'll Do
- Independently lead human genetics target discovery projects that require resource from multiple functions including target discovery biology, drug discovery biology, in vivo, and chemistry.
- Drive the progression of targets through the drug development process, using statistical genetics to make a difference in target discovery, target validation, and clinical trial design.
- Manage a team across a diverse portfolio of disease mechanisms.
- Gain access to, curate multi-omics data from, and analyze diverse publicly available data from large biobank studies.
- Develop human genetic analysis workflows both locally and in cloud-based environments.
- Perform ad hoc analyses and function as a subject leader in support of ongoing wet lab / informatics projects.
- Partner with the informatics team to ensure reproducible informatics workflows.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify potential areas of interest for future research programs.
What We Are Looking For
- PhD coupled with proven industry experience in genetics, bioinformatics, medicine, biology, biostatistics or genetic epidemiology.
- Leadership or people development experience.
- Experience using common statistical tests, methods for genetic association and meta-analysis to conduct association testing across multiple cohorts.
- Experience in visualization of genetic data (e.g., Integrative Genomics Viewer).
- Experience using remote / cloud environments (e.g., AWS, gCloud, Azure).
- Experience building or implementing scalable human genetics pipelines to perform high-throughput analysis.
- Experienced in working in a Linux or Linux-like environment (e.g., bash / shell / MacOS) .
- Advanced proficiency in Python and / or R.
