##Position Description

The Patient and Family Experience (PFX) Strategy is central to SickKids 2030 Strategic Plan and to its mission of Healthier Children. A Better World. The Manager, PFX Strategy and Partnership plays an important role that intersects strategy, operations and partnership with patients, families and community members. This position combines operational leadership of the Office of Engagement, an enterprise-wide Office that fosters consistent, best-in-class engagement practices across the institution, with strategic oversight of key initiatives within the PFX portfolio.

Working closely with clinicians, researchers, staff and leaders across the organization, the Manager will play a key leadership role in advancing how lived experience shapes care, research and learning, while ensuring that we cross the finish line on the strategic directions laid out in the 2024-2027 PFX Strategy.

Here's What You'll Get to Do

Patient, Family & Community Engagement

  • Oversee and evolve the operating model for the Office of Engagement to ensure the consistent delivery of meaningful engagement with patients, families and the community across the hospital, research and learning institutes
  • Establish systems to enable staff, physicians and learners across the enterprise to easily access and meaningfully partner with patient, family and community advisors
  • Ensure engagement practices are equitable and inclusive
  • Oversee the growth, stewardship and diversity of SickKids' network of people with lived experience
  • Establish and implement data analytics to track, evaluate and report engagement metrics and activities. Identify trends, patterns and opportunities to enhance engagement.
  • Establish a communication plan and strategy to ensure internal and external partners are kept up to date on programs and services, utilizing various platforms including the SickKids internet/intranet, social media, newsletters and/or other mediums.

Strategic Initiatives within PFX

  • Lead the PFX Data Strategy, including the development of frameworks that support the organization and local teams to measure, interpret and act on experience insights
  • Support and coordinate the implementation of the Caregiver Wellness Strategy, recognizing the essential role of families and caregivers in paediatric care
  • Advance work related to Precision Experience, exploring how data, insights and innovative approaches to care can enable more personalized, responsive and inclusive experiences
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, clinicians, and operational teams to translate strategies into practical implementation
  • Manage complex, cross-functional initiatives and ensure alignment with broader organizational priorities
  • Track progress, outcomes and impact of strategic initiatives and report to senior leadership

Relationship Management

  • Build strong strategic relationships/partnerships/networks, both internal and external, to amplify awareness of the value proposition of the Office of Engagement and of PFX strategies
  • Support the expansion of existing strategies to engage children and youth in PFX-related and enterprise-wide work
  • Support the development of partnerships and systems to expand upon strategies for community engagement across the enterprise
  • Engage with advisors within the Lived Experience Network (LXN) and across SickKids

Leadership & People Management

  • Provide leadership and direction to the teams responsible for advancing PFX and patient, family and community engagement across the organization.
  • Create an inclusive, collaborative and psychologically safe team environment that supports innovation and continuous improvement
  • Lead, mentor and support multidisciplinary teams to deliver high quality work that drives improved engagement practices and patient and family experiences
  • Set clear goals, expectations and performance measures for team members and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Build commitment, engagement, and confidence in staff by connecting their roles and responsibilities to the mission and vision of the organization.
  • Responsible for all human resource related activity with staff including training, salary administration, performance management, recruitment, termination, health and safety and attendance management.

Operations & Financial Management

  • Support and contribute to the development of the team's financial and operating plan and budget needs. Track and measure expenditures and recommend opportunities to balance budgets.
  • Lead the streamlining of processes in the department to ensure efficiency and organization of operations, to ensure effective use of resources and high-quality standards of contributions.
  • Accountable for the quality and accuracy of all work produced by the department.

Here's What You'll Need

  • Master's degree required
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in design thinking, strategy and/or patient, family and community engagement.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading interdisciplinary teams and designing programs/strategies in a similar sized and highly complex organization.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse partners.
  • Proficiency in data analytics and reporting
  • Specialized knowledge in patient engagement practices, principles and research
  • Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives
