The Role:

The M365 Engineer is accountable for the design, build, implementation, and delivery of scalable cloud-based Microsoft 365 solutions encompassing on-line services such as Entra ID, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.
This position will manage and optimize PHO’s Microsoft 365 environment with a strong focus on communication, collaboration, and security.

Key Responsibilities-

  • Provides oversight to the day-to-day operations of the Microsoft 365 (M365) environment, including SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and other associated M365 applications.
  • Monitors system performance to ensure the health and reliability of the M365 services and troubleshoots issues as they arise. Acts as the escalation point for complex problems that require in-depth troubleshooting and resolution. Works directly with end-users to troubleshoot and resolve issues, including user access, connectivity, and performance issues, if required.
  • Based on system performance, identifies areas for improvement and implements solutions to enhance efficiency and user experience.
  • Implements and maintains security policies, compliance features, and data protection measures within M365. Ensures adherence to organizational policies and procedures for information security and compliance.
  • Configures and manages Single sign-on (SSO) implementations, app registrations, and other integrations with Azure/Entra ID.
  • Implements and manages identity governance and secure access solutions such as Conditional Access, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
  • Manages email flow, spam filtering, and email security configurations.
  • Integrates M365 applications with other business systems and services to ensure seamless interoperability and data flow.
  • Maintains and optimizes hybrid identity solutions, including Azure Active Directory Connect, Entra proxy servers, and Workday integration.
  • Oversees the migration, integration, and rollout of new M365 features and services ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Develops and implements automation scripts and workflows to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation of the M365 environment and procedures.
  • Works closely with Enterprise Technology & Cyber Security cross-functional teams to understand business needs and develop innovative solutions leveraging M365 technologies.
  • Develops and recommends strategies toward continual expansion, improvement, and efficiency gains for existing systems and new implementations based on business requirements.
  • Develops communication material for end-users on M365 capabilities, best practices, and new features.
  • Stays up to date with knowledge on the M365 platform features pertinent to PHO and the latest industry trends and advancements to drive continuous improvement.

Knowledge and Skills-

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Teams, and related services.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and management tasks.
  • Strong understanding of M365 security and compliance features.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols related to M365 services.
  • Knowledge and understanding of M365 architecture and services across multiple geographies.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements.
  • C customer service skills for dealing with all levels of end-users.
  • Leadership and technical skills promote M365 capabilities, best practices, and new features.
  • Written communication skills to create technical and non-technical documentation.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to nontechnical stakeholders.

Education and Experience-

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing and supporting M365 environments.
  • M365 certifications are highly desirable.
  • Experience with M365 migrations and implementations.
  • Experience with identity and access management (IAM) tools and principles.
  • Experience with Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
