Equinox Engineering Ltd. is a Calgary-based EPCM firm. We are a market leader in oil and gas processing specializing in facilities design, implementation and operational assistance for natural gas, conventional oil, heavy oil, carbon capture and new energy projects. Our clients include several of the largest oil and gas producers in Canada and worldwide.

We are seeking a Piping Design Lead with 10+ years of EPCM experience who is passionate about technical excellence, team leadership, and project delivery. This role is ideal for an experienced piping professional looking to lead multidisciplinary teams, contribute to complex facility projects, and mentor developing designers within a collaborative engineering environment.

What You’ll Do

Technical Support

  • Lead the development and delivery of piping design and drafting deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Develop and review 3D piping models and drawings using AutoCAD, Autodesk Plant 3D, Hexagon CadWorx, and Hexagon S3D.
  • Review piping layouts to ensure constructability, safety, cost effectiveness, and compliance with industry best practices.
  • Apply in depth knowledge of piping codes and standards, including ASME B31.3.

Collaboration & Project Execution

  • Work closely with Process, Mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Provide input to project schedules, man hour estimates, and scope of work documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Piping Design Supervisor to support resource planning and workload management.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external 30/60/90 model reviews.
  • Support global workshare execution and coordination.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure piping designs meet Equinox quality standards, client requirements, and regulatory codes.
  • Review drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, and consistency prior to issue.
  • Promote safe design practices and continuous improvement throughout the design process.

Technical Exposure

  • Gain exposure to a broad range of facility types including natural gas processing, oil production, carbon capture, and emerging energy projects.
  • Utilize Navisworks and other review tools to support interdisciplinary model coordination.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of Equinox design standards and procedures.

About You

  • Engineering Design and Drafting Diploma (Piping) or equivalent.

  • 10+ years of experience in piping design within an EPCM environment.

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor high performing design teams.

  • Strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Hexagon CadWorx, Hexagon S3D, and Navisworks.

  • Detail oriented with a strong focus on quality, safety, and project delivery.
