About the Opportunity:

The Digital Communications Specialist is a detail-oriented digital communicator. This role requires a strong understanding of integrated communications planning and online engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and writing a variety of content for KidsAbility Centre for Child Development, and helping to plan, develop, and execute internal and external digital, email marketing and social media campaigns. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, this role will be responsible for the creation and/or editing of digital content on KidsAbility multiple digital properties, including all internal and external online environments (intranet and websites) as well as social media channels and other tools both currently in use and those implemented in the future. The incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day publishing activities on all digital channels and will support the execution of digital campaigns. This role is also responsible for ensuring that all content reflects the KidsAbility voice and tone, is search engine optimized, and meets accessibility standards.

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • Management of all KidsAbility-managed web properties, creating and curating webpages, managing updates, ensuring accuracy and relevance of content, SEO
  • Creates and delivers KidsAbility’s social media plan, including measurement and analytics.
  • Lead content development for KidsAbility Centre for Child Development, responsible for researching and delivering a wide range of content (i.e., news and feature stories, newsletters, website content, social media posts, advertisements, and video scripts).
  • Responsible for ensuring all communications meet AODA and other legislative requirements.
  • Assists in the delivery of KidAbility’s Strategic Plan.
  • Offers communications support to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • Works collaboratively with employees across the organization, including the KidsAbility Foundation and KidsAbility School, to enhance KidsAbility’s overall digital presence, build brand awareness and demonstrate community impact.
  • Ensures all content created complies with KidsAbility’s policies and brand guidelines.
  • Assists in the organization and implementation of special events as needed.
  • Prepares and analyzes monthly digital media analytics to measure the impact of KidsAbility communications activities.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle with public liability and property damage coverage

In addition to the above qualifications, the following skills and experience will be strong assets:

  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience writing content for a wide range of communication channels, including print, website, and social media in a not-for-profit or public sector environment.
