About the role

Parkland School Division is seeking a community-minded professional to join our Audit Committee as a Public Member. This is a unique opportunity to contribute your financial expertise to the governance of our local education system and ensure that resources are effectively managed for the benefit of our students.

The Role:

As a Committee of the Board of Trustees, the Audit Committee plays a vital role in oversight. You will assist the Board in ensuring:

  • Reliable financial reporting.
  • The effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Compliance with provincial legislation and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a candidate who brings a high level of financial experience and integrity. Our preferred candidate will possess:

  • A professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent).
  • Strong financial literacy and an understanding of complex financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of internal audit controls and corporate governance.
  • A connection to either the local business community or the adult learning community.

Schedule & Compensation:

  • Audit Committee meetings are approximately four half-day meetings per year, with the potential for additional meetings as required.
  • Public members receive a per diem in accordance with the (can be viewed at , Our Board, Board Policies (Board Policy 8 – Board Committees).
