About the role

Do you have the organizational skills of a NASA launch director, the improv skills of a stand-up comic, and the crowd-control powers of a theme-park ride operator on free-ice-cream day? Mad Science of the Maritimes is searching for a legendary human to join our crew as our Lead Instructor & Kit Prep Hero.
This is not your average job. You’ll spend your days teaching mind-blowing science to kids, prepping our magical trunks of experiments, training other Mad Scientists, and making sure our programming runs like a well-oiled rocket engine.
Your Mission
- Teach 2+ high-energy, hands-on science programs each day in schools, camps, and special events across HRM (and sometimes beyond).
- Prep kits like a master chef preps a kitchen—every piece in place, organized, and ready for the show.
- Train and support our part-time Mad Scientists so they’re confident, dynamic, and delivering top-tier experiences.
- Keep our gear and materials organized so Caitlin can sleep at night.
Communicate like a pro—ask questions when you need clarity, share ideas, and give feedback.
Keep things rolling even when schedules shift—flexibility is part of the job description.
We’re Looking for Someone Who Is…
- Organized to the core (you colour-code your colour-coded labels).
- Dynamic and engaging—you light up a room and hold a kid’s attention like you’re telling the best story they’ve ever heard.
- Fun-aunt/uncle energy—playful, quick to laugh, but also responsible and trusted.
- Self-starting—you don’t wait to be told twice and you spot problems before they happen.
- Kid-magnetic—your super power is connecting with kids in a way that makes them feel seen, excited, and safe.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a high-energy team.
Perks of Joining the Mad Science Crew
- Work in an environment where fun is literally part of the job description.
Make a real difference—kids will remember your programs for years.
Be part of a small, supportive team that values creativity, initiative, and humour.
All the slime you could ever want. (Don’t eat it.)
Details
- Schedule: 30–40 hours/week, Monday–Friday (occasional weekends possible).
- Pay: $20/hour + mileage reimbursement when traveling for programs.
- Location: Based in Dartmouth, with travel to schools and venues.
If you’re ready to bring science to life, keep our kits in top form, and lead from the front with humour, energy, and unshakable professionalism—apply now.
Compensación: $20.00 per hour
