About the role

Overview REAL ALLOY is the market leader in third-party aluminum recycling and specification alloy production. We have 16 plants strategically located across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. We convert aluminum scrap and by-products into reusable aluminum metal for a growing number of applications across various industries. We are ideally positioned to respond to the needs of an increasingly recycling-conscious world. Advanced technologies enable us to process a large variety of scrap and dross and reduce the amount of residual waste from aluminum manufacturing that would otherwise end up as landfill. This position will be located in MISSISSAUGA, CANADA.

Responsibilities This individual will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all aspects of raw materials from incoming loads through to the melting and pouring process for the plant.

  • Work with purchasing on proper scrap grading to include down-grading or rejection.
  • Approves inbound scheduling requests.
  • Direct & control scrap & alloy inventories to include monitoring & correcting computerized inventories, chemistry & cost (using Oracle & Solver).
  • Schedule pre-processing equipment to run scraps efficiently to keep lowest cost scrap available in front of furnace production runs.
  • Formulate charge make-up (blends) to achieve customer standards at lowest cost with available scrap.
  • Maintain and participate in quarterly inventory counts to ensure accuracy.
  • Identifies affiliate metal needs and recovery performance.
  • Initiate and conduct special projects related to furnace trials and material testing as required for business needs.
  • Assist with creating production work orders as needed.
  • Weekly blend compliance reporting.
  • Manage breakage and oversize usage.
  • Blend optimization KPI responsibility.
  • Direct feedback provided to supply chain manager(s) based on scrap and supplier performance.
  • Blend cost analysis to forecast.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant education discipline or relevant combination of related education and experience.
  • 2 years working with aluminum scrap & alloys.
  • Proven ability to function with minimal supervision while also leading others toward plant goals.
  • Ability to plan and organize effective and efficiently.
  • Results and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (teamwork oriented).
  • Committed to high standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Desire for advancement within the organization.
  • Off-hours access via typical communication tools.

Compensation Range: $64,300 - $96,500
