The Facility Monitor’s primary role is to deliver an excellent customer experience in a pleasant, positive, and professional manner while ensuring a safe environment.
As a Facility Monitor, you are part of the team that animates the child and youth spontaneous use areas. At Millennium Place, this includes, childminding (Fun Factory), the indoor playground (Edutainment), the youth lounge, the gymnasium, birthday parties, and the leisure pond.
Shifts are scheduled 7 days a week ranging between 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. A variety of shifts are available including daytime, evenings and weekend s.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively engage with guests of all ages throughout our spontaneous use/childcare areas by asking questions and providing options that will assist them to have an enjoyable experience
- Provide childcare in a safe, nurturing environment within set ratios
- Ensure spaces are safe, clean, and ready for use by guests
- Check for proof of payment and record the number of guests in each activity area
- Provide information to guests regarding the variety of leisure activities available throughout Strathcona County
- Provide first aid to guests and assist in emergency situations
- Follow safe work practices
- Take a genuine interest in upholding the values of Strathcona County and providing exceptional industry-leading service
Qualifications and Skills
- A team player and a self-starter; ability to perform tasks as assigned but also recognize opportunities to contribute to the team’s overall success
- Ability to interact positively with guests, co-workers, and supervisors using strong listening and communication skills
- Ability to visually monitor a large area with active participants
- Ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot challenges and creatively and positively problem solve
- Position-specific qualifications include:
- Ability to provide childcare in a safe, nurturing environment
- Working with large numbers of youth/children at once
- High School Diploma is preferred
- Previous experience with youth and children in a childcare or recreational setting
- Minimum one year working with the public in a customer service setting
- Current Intermediate First Aid and CPR- Level C is an asset
- HIGH FIVE ® Principles of Healthy Child Development training is an asset
Conditions of Employment:
- Submission of a Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check
- Current Intermediate First Aid and CPR-Level C certification must be obtained within 30 days of start date
- Ability and willingness to perform various types of physical labour including lifting (up to 20 pounds), standing, bending, etc.
