Overview Location - Saskatoon
Reporting to the Key Account Manager in Saskatoon, the Project Manager will lead and manage Shermco’s dedicated electrical services maintenance team on site.
This role will work closely with the Key Account Manager, Electrical Services Manager, site Electrical Supervisors, and other leaders within the Saskatchewan Operations team.
The Project Manager will focus on the safe, efficient execution of Shermco’s maintenance contract obligations while supporting strong, long-term client relationships.
Responsibilities Leadership
- Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to site Electrical Supervisors and Electricians, ensuring daily operational goals are achieved.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment with open communication and an accessible “open-door” approach.
- Foster a team-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement, collaboration, and proactive safety mindsets.
- Ensure all staff follow company policies, procedures, and site requirements.
- Maintain regular presence in the field and drive performance through consistent engagement and quality interactions.
Project Management
- Lead and manage the 24/7 electrical maintenance contract and workforce, ensuring safe, timely completion of work orders and meeting key performance targets.
- Oversee procurement and subcontractor coordination in alignment with company procedures and authority limits.
- Manage QA/QC activities including as-builts, redlines, tagging, and ITP requirements.
- Participate in site and client meetings as required.
- Monitor and support key business metrics such as safety, training, scheduling, manpower, equipment, budget, and financial performance.
- Assist with contract-related estimating, pricing, and performance reviews.
- Review completed work to identify lessons learned and share improvements with the team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Client & Business Development
- Foster strong, long-term relationships with client representatives.
- Build positive working relationships with other site contractors to identify potential business or revenue opportunities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus a post-secondary electrical trade certification, engineering technology diploma, or related program from a recognized institution.
- PMP certification is an asset.
- Minimum 10+ years of construction or maintenance experience, including substantial field exposure.
- At least 5 years of direct project management experience in construction and/or maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction and maintenance practices, applicable codes, specifications, and provincial regulations.
- Advanced understanding of medium- and high-voltage systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Solid understanding of industrial and mining construction environments.
- Knowledge of OH&S legislation and safe work practices.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and email.
