Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance technicians with repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of downstream extrusion equipment (pullers, cutters, conveyors, cooling systems, winders, packaging systems).
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks such as cleaning, lubrication, fastener checks, and minor adjustments under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop, ensuring tools and equipment are returned to their proper locations.
  • Support parts management by receiving deliveries, stocking shelves, labeling, and organizing spare parts inventory.
  • Assist in inventory counts, audits, and recordkeeping of parts usage.
  • Prepare work areas for maintenance jobs by gathering tools, equipment, and parts needed.
  • Clean and restore work areas after maintenance tasks, ensuring equipment is safe and ready for operation.
  • Help with the setup, installation, or removal of equipment and components under the guidance of a maintenance technician.
  • Monitor consumables (lubricants, rags, fasteners, filters, etc.) and notify supervisor when reordering is required.
  • Provide general assistance to the maintenance team in daily activities as required.
  • Assist with equipment modifications and upgrades to improve performance, efficiency, and safety.
  • Carryout oral/printed work request and apply corrective measures in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, downtime events, and spare parts usage in the CMMS system.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Communicate daily repair activity with Supervisors and with other Departments.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and plant maintenance standards.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn; prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail and cleanliness.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move parts and equipment safely.
  • Willingness to take on routine and supporting tasks (inventory, stocking, cleaning) as part of the maintenance function.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to punctuality.
  • Team-oriented attitude with the ability to follow instructions and work safely.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or within a team.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new systems in a fast-paced production environment.

Work Environment

  • Plant environment 24-7, 2 shift operation.
  • Dayshift: 6 am - 6 pm
  • A fast-paced work environment with multiple, tight, and changing priorities
  • Willing to work at heights
