We currently have an exciting opportunity within our Accounting Policies Group (APG) team.
As a Manager, you will play a key advisory role in addressing complex accounting matters requiring technical IFRS research and judgment, while contributing to strategic projects such as accounting for acquisitions and the implementation of new accounting standards. This position is a temporary one-year contract to cover a maternity leave. At the end of the term, a permanent position may be considered based on performance and organizational needs. This hybrid role, based in Montreal, Canada, offers the perfect opportunity for a Big 4 accounting professional looking to transition to industry, gain exposure to global accounting operations, and make a meaningful impact within a dynamic and collaborative environment. You will manage a small team of professionals and work closely with key finance stakeholders, including the Consolidation, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and Financial Planning and Analysis teams, while also interacting regularly with senior finance leadership.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of four financial analysts, fostering collaboration, technical excellence, and professional development;
- Advise Business Units and Corporate Departments (Consolidation, Tax, Treasury, Legal, etc.) on technical accounting matters, ensuring timely and practical guidance;
- Coordinate the update of accounting policies to align with IFRS and CGI’s evolving business practices;
- Participate in the review of the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, validating IFRS disclosure compliance;
- Ensure that revenue recognition checklists submitted by Business Unit Controllers are timely, complete, and accurate, and support the team in their review;
- Provide Accounting Policy training sessions to CGI’s finance community to promote consistency and knowledge sharing;
- Contribute to projects such as acquisition accounting (PPA) and implementation of new accounting standards.
- Support the Director – Accounting Policies in coordinating various ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives;
Required qualifications to be successful in this role

University degree in accounting or finance;
-
CPA designation (or equivalent);
-
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, ideally with background in a Big 4 or national accounting firm;

Demonstrated experience in managing or mentoring a team;

Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and interest in policy development and application;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Fluency in French and English;
-
Proficiency with MS Office tools (particularly Excel);

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines;
