About the role

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This role is open to internal candidates of NHSGGC only General Medicine (South Sector) provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services to the population of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and the West of Scotland.

The General Medicine inpatient service is primarily based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) and Gartnavel General Hospital. Outpatient services are located on three sites, Gartnavel General, New Victoria and QEUH.

The Service supports an extensive range of specialties and sub specialties, Gastroenterology, General Medicine Respiratory, Cardiology, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases and support services of Respiratory and Cardiac Physiology.

The post holder would have direct oversight of outpatient and inpatient/day-case waiting lists in line with Scottish Government guidance and Patient’s Rights Act 2011. Managing clinic capacity to ensure that clinical priorities and waiting time targets are met through effective use of available resources. Overall responsibility for administrative services within the Sub-Directorate, and direct line management responsibility for all Waiting List Coordinators and Admin/Waiting List Managers.

The successful candidate will lead service modernisation projects with multidisciplinary clinical teams. Develop statistical datasets for performance reporting and support clinical governance actions such as complaint/incident investigation.

We are seeking an enthusiast Service Support Manager who possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills to secure clinical and operational engagement and support the delivery of safe, effective person centred care. The ability to work under pressure, managing deadlines and responding to changing priorities is essential. Experience in waiting list management and managing projects is essential.
