We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Structural Engineer to join our team!

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, with a high degree of accuracy and care, design calculations, specifications, scopes of work and other technical documents, as well as technical review of structural work.
- Oversee the production of detailed design drawings of various structural projects including but not limited to reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber, light gauge steel, and masonry.
- Review drawings, specifications and documents to ensure high level of quality and compliance to applicable building codes and endorse with P. Eng. stamp.
- Manage and mentor subordinate engineers in training and drafting staff including input to the career development, technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and performance reviews.
- Assemble project estimates and support the preparation of structural fee proposals.
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Apply effective structural analysis and design experience:
a) New building design (commercial, institutional, light industrial, residential).
b) Concrete and steel design skills are mandatory. Additional design skills deemed desirable include:
light-steel framing, light-timber framing, heavy-timber framing, aluminum, glass, stainless steel.
c) Renovations to existing buildings.
- Willingness to travel to carry out site inspections and fulfill other contract administration responsibilities.
- Ensure client requirements and schedules are met and exceeded on a regular basis.
- Participate actively in, and contribute to, company meetings and events.
- Positively contribute to the development of client relationships and new business opportunities including assisting with the preparation of proposals and attendance to sales meetings, as applicable.
- At all times, effectively manage clients and client expectations in a professional manner.
KEY REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years design experience.
- University Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from a recognized University
- Registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (additional registrations are an asset).
- Experience with structural engineering software such as SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RAM Steel, spSlab, spColumn, AutoCAD, etc., and MS Excel.
- Consulting and project management experience.
- Experience dealing with clients on technical issues.
- Experience working with structural design teams and sub-consultants, and co-ordinate structural project work.
- Experience and knowledge of structural design of supports for cladding systems, including stone, is an asset.
- Solid communication skills including written and verbal.
