The Purpose of the Role:

As part of the Finance division, the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) group provides value added reporting and analysis that ultimately moves the business forward strategically and operationally. Reporting to the Director, Finance, this newly created role will be responsible for ensuring that our clearing business operates with agility and that resources are mobilized where they are most needed.

This role is responsible for developing and executing capacity planning models, analyzing multiple data sets to effectively forecast volumes, transactions and productivity, ensures optimal resource allocation across the firm, and collaborates and partners with senior leaders across the firm to recommend various resource allocation strategies identified.

What You Will Do:

Capacity Planning and Forecasting

  • Developing long-term and short-term demand and capacity forecast models to support business operations
  • Enable operational teams with transformative forecasting models for volumes of requests and transactions across various business lines
  • Design, develop and enhance models into employee effectiveness and productivity to help drive inputs into capacity planning models
  • Maintaining and updating forecasts with a monthly cadence under a high-frequency lens (weekly) over a rolling 24-month period
  • Leverage appropriate statistical models to test forecast output and assumptions
  • Lead the annual planning process for capacity planning within operational team’s peak-period assessments

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Monitor resource performance and identify areas for improvement by analyzing current departmental capacity and productivity identifying inefficiencies
  • Collect, analyze and interpret data to identify trends and patterns across various variables
  • Using data visualization techniques (Power BI / PowerPoint), design and develop reporting tools and presentations to present insights and recommendations to senior leaders.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with various senior leaders throughout the organization in entity wide resource programs
  • Present, on a monthly basis, findings to senior leaders to help drive recommendations on capacity strategies across various teams (surplus / shortage distributions)
  • Help collaborate on other entity level capacity planning projects (reservist program)
  • Keep apprised of the continuously evolving FCC policies procedures as well as client specific processes.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience in a role focused on capacity/workforce planning management, forecasting and planning, and data analytics within the financial services industry
  • Completion of post-secondary education or relevant work experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is a must have
  • Work experience within the brokerage industry or a clearing firm is an asset
  • Expertise in Python, SQL, PowerBI, or other programming languages are an asset
  • Experience in developing and applying statistical or predictive modelling is nice to have

The Expertise Your Bring:

  • Advanced proficiency in capacity or workforce planning management, forecasting and data analytics / reporting
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with ability to understand data and draw insights in order to deliver recommendations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to present data and findings in an effective way
  • Knowledge of MS Access, Excel, Powerpoint, Oracle Business Intelligence Dashboards / Answers and Business Objects Web Intelligence, SQL
  • Organized self-starter, with a customer service focus and ability to manage complex tasks
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively make presentations to diverse internal audiences
  • Experience with applying various models to help solve practical business problems
  • Team player- ability to foster and maintain strong working relationships and work cooperatively with others.
