Job Description – Associate
We are searching for an experienced associate who has managed multiple clients previously. The associate is responsible for managing the tax credit and incentive preparation process for our clients, from understanding US Tax Credits, preparing calculations, and accurately preparing client tax documents.

If given a new project you’ve never encountered, could you research, obtain necessary information and successfully complete it? You will work closely and collaboratively with our clients, developing a professional partnership and learning about their business to better serve each client’s unique situation.
In the first 90 days, you will conquer the following:
- Understanding your clients’ operations to help calculate the research and development tax credit and other tax incentives:
- Research state research and development credits
- Review and organize information provided by clients
- Prepare calculations and deliverables
- Meet internal and external deadlines for clients’ and governmental due dates
- Taking initiative and being proactive about meeting client tax deadlines
- Proactive in taking notes during client and internal meetings
- Effectively communicate verbally and written with internal team members to achieve shared goals
- Understand client’s ask and respond in a professional, concise, and appropriate manner
- Stay current with tax updates of current product offerings
- Schedule regular debriefings and come prepared to present any bottlenecks and praise reports identified during the project
- Understanding and complying with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Prompt in responding to both external and internal communications
In the first 6 months, you will conquer the following:
- Understand our current product offerings and be able to articulate and explain the qualification of each credit to new clients
- Shorten workpaper and memo lead time while providing high quality work
- Present feedback and improvement plans for internal and project processes
- Be able to run projects with minimum supervision
- Attention to detail when preparing client tax returns, workpapers, and deliverables
- Taking the initiative to troubleshoot and complete projects within budget
- Analyze data and interpret it accurately
- Organize thoughts and be concise in written and verbal communication
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required;
- 1 year of professional experience in public tax accounting;
- At least 1 year of R&D Tax Credit experience or relevant tax credit experience
- At least 1 year of experience in tax accounting (income tax and tax return preparations)
- Be able to read and interpret the financial statements
- Knowledge of US GAAP and US Tax Laws and Regulations
- Computer proficiency to include current software programs, i.e. MS Word and Excel
- At least 1 year of experience in tax research utilizing tax research software like CCH, BNA, or Checkpoint.
