About the role
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Tasks: Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed. Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Mountain driving expertise. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Load and unload goods. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Transport and handle dangerous goods. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks). Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Trans-border documentation. Trip reports. Transportation/travel experience: International. Long-haul. Provincial/territorial. Security and safety: Valid passport. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Travel expenses paid by employer. Willing to travel cross-border. Willing to travel internationally.
