About the IRTS
The Innu Round Table Secretariat is the implementation arm of the Round Table. It is the collective organization of the Mushuau Innu First Nation (MIFN), the Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation (SIFN), and the Innu Nation. The Secretariat was established to coordinate the administration of shared priorities including capacity development, program devolution, and management of the tripartite process with Canada and the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador.
About the Position
The IRT Secretariat is seeking a dedicated candidate to join our team in Natuashish, NL. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Innu Child & Family Services and the Income Support Manager, this position plays a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and providing essential support across two departments.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, motivated, and discreet, with excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail. Prior experience in office administration, particularly within Indigenous organizations, will be considered a strong asset.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide administrative support including drafting correspondence, scheduling meetings, and managing calendars.

Greet and assist visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional office environment.

Answer and direct incoming calls, emails, and inquiries.

Prepare and maintain documents, reports, and presentations.

Organize and maintain filing systems, databases, and records.
-
Coordinate travel arrangements, meeting logistics, and events.
-
Assist with data entry, invoice processing, and expense tracking.

Support management and staff with special projects and other administrative tasks as required.

Support proactive communication and promotion of the Income Support Program.

Gather and review all required information and documentation for benefit applications.

Assess service requests and ensure the rationale for support is clearly identified.

Provide accurate and timely information to clients in response to inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Office Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, with at least 3–5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fluency in Innu-Aimun is considered a strong asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
- Knowledge of Innu culture and history is considered a strong asset.
- Experience working with Indigenous organizations is an asset.
