Who we need We are hiring a Laboratory Technician – VOC Canister Room to join our Environmental Services team in Mississauga. This is a hands-on operational role supporting the preparation, maintenance, assembly, packaging, and shipment of specialized air-sampling equipment used by clients across Canada. Unlike traditional laboratory positions focused on analytical testing, this role combines equipment preparation, assembly work, troubleshooting, shipping support, and production activities within a highly specialized and collaborative team environment. Whether you are a recent graduate looking to launch your career or someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, this role offers extensive training and the opportunity to develop valuable laboratory, mechanical, and operational skills. This is a permanent, full-time position based in our Mississauga laboratory and is expected to work on-site five days per week during standard business hours. How you will make an impact Prepare and maintain sampling equipment. You will clean, assemble, inspect, and prepare reusable air-sampling equipment, canisters, tubing, and accessories to ensure they are ready for client use. Support equipment assembly and troubleshooting. You will build tubing assemblies, install fittings and connectors, perform equipment testing, and assist with diagnosing and resolving equipment issues. Coordinate order fulfillment and shipping activities. You will package customer equipment, prepare documentation, assemble shipping kits, and ensure orders are processed accurately and delivered on time. Support production workflows. You will load canisters and flow controllers into cleaning systems, prepare equipment for processing, and contribute to the efficient operation of the department. Maintain quality, safety, and organization standards. You will follow established procedures, maintain accurate records, keep work areas organized, and ensure compliance with Bureau Veritas quality and safety requirements. What you bring Education and transferable experience. You have a college diploma, university degree, or equivalent experience. A background in science, environmental studies, manufacturing, assembly, shipping, warehouse operations, or other hands-on environments is considered an asset. Mechanical curiosity and willingness to learn. You enjoy understanding how things work, are comfortable learning to use hand tools and equipment, and approach new challenges with a problem-solving mindset. Strong work ethic and accountability. You are dependable, take ownership of your responsibilities, and consistently follow through on commitments. Hands-on and physically capable. You enjoy active work, are comfortable standing for extended periods, performing repetitive tasks, and lifting materials weighing up to 40 pounds. Independence and initiative. You can work with minimal supervision, identify what needs to be done, and proactively contribute to team success. Teamwork and communication. You work well with others, communicate effectively, and contribute positively to a collaborative environment. Basic computer proficiency. You are comfortable using email, Microsoft Office applications, and simple computer systems to manage information and complete daily tasks. Compensation This posting is for an existing vacancy. The salary for this role is $18.00 per hour. Our salary ranges reflect the range of skills and experience required for the posted position. The final offer amount for this role will depend on geographical region, applicable experience, internal equity, and the skillset of the candidate.
