Position Summary

Reporting to the Food, Beverage and Lodge Supervisor, this position assists guests with ski/snowboard/snowshoe rentals within the Pass Powderkeg lodge. The technician assists with proper fitting of equipment, completes rental agreements, ensures waiver compliance and completes equipment maintenance. The position may also be responsible for, at times, snow school, lift ticket and rental sales. In this multifaceted role, you will actively provide guest information regarding Pass Powderkeg events, services, facilities and assist guests in booking winter activities. This role works closely with Guest Services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To continually strive to exceed our guest’s expectations and to create memories for guests and staff as a great mountain experience

  • Assist guests through the rental process, focusing on the guest experience and efficiency of rental form time

  • Must be able to work in a professional manner and be able to explain technical terms to guest in a manner that the guests will understand

  • Able to conduct the following repairs: Sidewall repairs, edge repairs, wax and scrape bases, installation of heli coils, top sheet repairs

  • Responsible for following the shop safety guidelines at all times

  • Ensure all equipment is returned efficiently and properly in the rental system

  • Maintain cleanliness of shop

  • Assist with end of day cleaning tasks including washrooms, floors and lodge area

  • Responsible for binding adjustments

  • Responsible for ensuring waivers and rental forms are complete prior to guests leaving area

  • Maintain required records, reports and documentation necessary as part of the due diligence process

  • Perform related duties as required

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Basic knowledge of the ski/snowboard industry and of rental operations
  • Working knowledge of binding design and function
  • Basic knowledge of ski/snowboard construction types
  • Ability to tune edges, wax and repair skis and snowboard bases

Required Education and Experience

This position requires the following minimum qualifications:

    1. Previous hands-on experience in a ski/snowboard tech shop a definite asset
  • Rental adjustment certifications are an asset.

  • Current first aid certification with CPR, and AED is an asset.

Working Conditions

The work is performed mainly indoors with some on snow work expected. Indoor work is typically performed in a rental shop environment involving periods of sitting, standing, good lighting and low noise. Outdoor work is performed in all weather conditions, including cold, wind, snow and rain. The work is occasionally physically strenuous and regularly requires the incumbent to ski/snowboard, bend, kneel and carry equipment.
