Autodesk is on a journey to develop the next generation of Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations (AECO) tools. Working directly for the AECO Solutions VP of Software Architecture, you can help us make this journey a success. Working primarily with the software architecture team as well as colleagues throughout the division, you’ll help document the interfaces, standards, schemas, processes, and more that are essential artifacts in our software architecture practice.

You’ll be joining the Architecture, Trust, and Advanced Technology team within the AEC Solutions organization. Our core mission is to govern the practices, processes, standards, and technologies that help the entire organization create dependable, trustworthy, and innovative software.
You’ll use your skills, knowledge, and experience to document system architecture, interfaces, concepts, standards, and processes. You’ll be working from existing documentation and design proposals, as well as identifying the need for and developing new materials. You’ll partner closely with software architects throughout the organization, our AECO information architect, and others. You should be comfortable adapting to and working with different documentation practices and standards among teams.
Responsibilities
- Learn Autodesk's AECO product line, new technologies, and the AEC industry to inform your work
- Research existing information sources to assess available materials and identify gaps therein
- Create documentation for a variety of audiences with a consistent voice, a clear and engaging tone, and a solid grasp of grammar and usage rules
- Collaborate with software architects and other colleagues to track down information for documentation
- Develop templates, process, and best practices to scale your efforts via the participation of others
- Assist with the cadence, writing, and publication of VP of Software Architecture internal communications
- Participate in honest and respectful debate on priorities, strategies, and tactics related to your work
- Maintain and administer Confluence and SharePoint pages
- Use analytics to develop insights on the adoption and use of materials developed
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field or related experience
- A minimum of five years of experience as a Technical Writer, or equivalent work
- Experience collaborating with software architects and developers to create documentation
- A proven ability to learn and write about programming, APIs, SDKs, machine learning, cloud computing, software architecture, graphics, or similar technologies
- An ability and desire to get things done without the need for external deadlines or daily oversight
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree in English, Information Science, or equivalent field
- Basic data handling skills, sufficient to work with data on the consumption of documents, blog posts, and the like
- Experience with Confluence, Word, SharePoint, Miro, Airtable, GitHub
- Project management skills
