CAD 1- Project Drafting and Drawing Management - FTT

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Edmonds C01

Employment type: Temporary Region: Lower Mainland

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid

Annual salary: $ 58,100.00 - 63,800.00

What you'll do

  • Creates and revises a variety of standard engineering/design computer-aided drafting (CAD) drawings associated for an

assigned engineering/design discipline (including but not limited to: Civil/Structural, Electrical, Mechanical or Protection &

Control (P&C), Telecom or Municipal) for projects in Generation, Transmission or Distribution throughout the province using

a prescribed set of BC Hydro tools, guides and standards under the guidance of higher-level CAD(D) team members as

required.

  • Produces a variety of associated graphs, drawings, maps and diagrams.

  • Assesses drawings against applicable engineering/design and computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) standards and

flags designs that appear to involve conflicting data or errors to the attention of the CADD Work Leader and/or Engineer/
Designer.

  • Verifies completed drawings for alignment with the provided dimensions, elevations and slopes, scales, quantities of

materials and components, acceptable clearances and design layout.

  • Updates Geographic Information System (GIS) information, including cadastral lot lines, roads, curbs, land annotations,

building footprints, easements, rights-of-way, street centre lines, physical geography, administrative boundaries (parks,

municipal boundaries) using data from maps, aerial photos, satellite images, surveys, engineered drawings and other

sources. Prepares GIS extracts for internal and external use.

  • Performs work according to CADD standards, engineering/design standards and all utility, city/municipality standards and

requirements. Applies standards when organizing and interpreting engineering information from consultants, utilities and

other sources for inclusion into drawings. Converts drawings produced using other CAD applications into formats useable in

current BC Hydro applications.

  • Assigns and records drawing numbering and information and maintains drawing lifecycles and file management for all

engineering/design drawings. Completes document control tasks and follows up on drawing requests for the Underground

Locate Centre (ULC). Publishes engineering/design drawings for stakeholders. Under direction from higher-level CAD(D)

team members, prepares explanatory notations, and creates unique drawings in support of legal proceedings.

  • May provide CAD-related guidance to Engineers/Designers and others working with engineering/design drawings. May

participate as a member of working groups and technical committees.

  • Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the job.

What you bring

  • One (1) year certificate in computer-aided drafting (CAD) from an accredited post-secondary technical institution.

  • One (1) year of experience in a computer-aided drafting (CAD) role in a relevant discipline (such as Civil/Structural,

Electrical, Mechanical, P&C, Telecom or Municipal). Preference given to the discipline directly relating to the position.

OR

  • Equivalent combination of academic training with CADD as part of the educational and/or development program and

related CADD experience.

  • Electrical utility or in a similar industry experience would be an asset.

  • Requires successful completion of applicable introductory courses on the BC Hydro Electrical System; or must be

completed within one (1) year of starting in the job.

  • Must hold a valid class five (5) driver's licence.
