Your Opportunity Under the direction of the Director, Facilities and Performance Spaces, the incumbent is responsible for providing support functions in a wide variety of areas throughout the Faculty of Music’s buildings. The Facilities Assistant will help coordinate small renovation projects, respond to incidents and notify the appropriate staff, supervisors and/or authorities, troubleshoot and resolve routine maintenance requests, and maintain a shift log of incidents, accidents, security sweeps and other activities.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Conducting routine building inspections
- Identifying and reporting facility repair and/or maintenance needs
- Handling minor repairs
- Identifying and resolving minor building security issues
- Preparing incident reports
- Verifying inventory of equipment
- Paying close attention to occupational safety precautions
Essential Qualifications
- College Diploma (2 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of facilities support experience, preferably in an academic environment.
- Experience conducting routine building inspections and identifying and reporting facility repair and/or maintenance needs.
- Experience handling minor repairs.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office suite, including SharePoint.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to correspond clearly and effectively through e-mail.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem solvingskills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive customer service orientation.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotions of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
