Bring your expert knowledge of procurement to this role where you will be responsible for effective and cost efficient procurement of parts and supplies for the Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) Branch.

About the job
In this role, you will:
- ensure a streamlined procurement process is in place, adhered to and maintained in the acquisition of all aviation aircraft material purchases
- assist in the development of procurement planning and acquisitions
- ensure standards and requirements for the government of Ontario's guidelines are followed and complied with
- identify and recommend long and short term strategies and tactics are in place to lower total costs of product purchases
- conduct analysis and prepare inventory reports to determine stock parts replacement requirements
- prepare annual cost estimates and maintenance
- consult with management, staff and specialists regarding procurement processes, requirements, specifications, procedures and best practices
What you bring to the team
Procurement experience:
- You have experience using the principles and practices of procurement and financial administration.
- You have knowledge of supply management policies and procedures, such as vendor of record arrangements, competitive and non-competitive buying, vendor qualifications and evaluation requirements.
- You have knowledge of contract administration, procurement processes and fiscal planning, to manage vendor performance and oversee contracts with vendors.
Aviation industry knowledge:

You have the ability to follow regulations and industry standards, to anticipate impacts on operations in regards to aircraft being unserviceable financially.

You have the ability to follow aviation store procedures, records retention requirements, age control and certification of aircraft parts and the guidelines governing the trade-in of inventory.
You possess or have the ability to acquire knowledge about:
- the aviation industry in Canada, North America and Europe and the trends impacting availability or cost in the provision of services.
- the Canadian Aviation Regulations, as applicable to the procurement and use of aircraft parts and repair/overhaul of aircraft components.
Communication and interpersonal skills:
- You have well developed communication, consultation and interpersonal skills to respond to queries and explain in specific detail, product specifications or contract requirements.
- You have interpersonal skills to consult/liaise with internal and external clients.
- You have written communication skills, to prepare complex correspondence/ documentation related to procurement activities including reports for ministry senior management.
Relationship management and consultation skills:
- You can consult and advise management and their staff on complex proposals/quotations and ensure that they are complete, clear and adhere to policies.
- You can liaise with tact and sensitivity and ensure confidentiality with vendors/agencies and staff/managers.
Analytical skills:
- You have proven analytical skills to assess quotations and tender submissions and make recommendations where efficiencies and direct/indirect cost savings may be achieved.
- You have work experience to perform post contract evaluations, create and maintain audit ready procurement records.
- You can read and interpret technical schematics and drawings.
Computer proficiency:
- You are proficient in using computers, common office productivity software and procurement applications.
