Are you a dependable security professional who thrives during nights and weekends? Commissionaires Southern Alberta are seeking Relief Monitoring Officers to support in our Client’s Security Operations Centre through remote camera and alarm monitoring, incident coordination, and rapid response during off-hours.
This role is critical to maintaining safety and operational continuity. Working in a technology-driven monitoring environment, you will assess real-time security events, communicate with emergency services and internal partners, and ensure incidents are handled accurately and professionally. Relief staff must be available on short notice and willing to adapt as operational needs change.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor camera and alarm systems to detect and assess security incidents
- Respond quickly and professionally to alerts and service requests
- Communicate clearly with emergency services, security teams, and internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and incident documentation
- Follow established procedures while exercising sound judgment in dynamic situations
- Support operations during nights and weekends with reliability and focus
What You Bring
- A valid Alberta Security Guard License and current First Aid certification
- A minimum of seven years of residency in Canada
- A high level of English fluency for speaking, reading, and writing; candidates may be required to complete an English language assessment
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn monitoring systems quickly
- Excellent situational awareness, attention to detail, and decision-making ability
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting a broader team
- Experience in a security control center, video or alarm monitoring, or a supervisory role is considered a strong asset
- A willingness to train for additional security roles as required
Working Conditions
- Relief coverage focused on nights, weekends and some days.
- Rotating shifts including 07:00–15:00, 15:00–23:00, and 23:00–07:00
- Office-based monitoring environment with extended periods of focus
- Fast-paced, structured setting requiring alertness and professionalism
- Short-notice shift availability is essential
