Job Description We are looking for a RESIDENTIAL PRODUCTION FINISHING CARPENTER & ASSISTANT PROJECT LEAD for our Edmonton, AB Vertically Integrated BuilderAbout Us
Our client has been shaping Edmontons infill rental market since 2005. They design, build, and manage our own rental homes from framing through finish, backed by an in-house carpentry crew and hands-on property management under Front Porch Communities. They believe in craftsmanship, teamwork, and providing clear paths for career growth.
Position Summary
Were seeking a skilled Residential Production Finishing Carpenter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is eager to transition into a leadership role. You will spend approximately 50% of your time installing interior doors, baseboard, casing and other trim on entry-level homes, and 50% leading a small crew and supporting project management tasks.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinishing Carpentry (50%)

- Install interior doors, door hardware, baseboards, casings, window trim and related finish work on entry-level homes

- Maintain high production rates while ensuring quality standards and code compliance

- Read and interpret finish schedules and blueprints
Crew Leadership & Project Support (50%)

- Assign daily tasks, coach and mentor 24 carpenters/helpers

- Coordinate material orders, verify on-site deliveries, and manage inventory of trim and hardware

- Conduct quality inspections, track daily progress against targets, and report to the Project Manager

- Assist with scheduling sub-trades, updating project timelines, and documenting site logs

- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and continuous-improvement initiatives
Qualifications Qualifications & Skills
- **Experience:** 5+ years of residential finishing carpentry, with a proven ability to meet high-volume production targets; demonstrated skill installing doors, baseboard, casing, window trim, and related finish packages
- **Leadership Potential:** Strong communication and mentoring skills; experience directing helpers or junior carpenters is a plus
- **Technical Aptitude:** Ability to read plans, finish schedules, and layouts; familiarity with common carpentry tools and proper maintenance
- **Mindset & Work Style:** Results-driven, with a focus on efficiency without sacrificing quality; organized, punctual, and safety-conscious; comfortable in a vertically integrated environmentcollaborating closely with design, production, and management teams
- **Other Requirements:** Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; own basic finishing carpentry toolset (circular saw, miter saw, finish nailer, levels, chisels, etc.); willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet production deadlines
