Job Overview
The Accounting Clerk will report directly to the Director, Accounting & Finance and provide support to both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. This role is responsible for
assisting with bookkeeping tasks such as recording transactions, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and maintaining financial records using accounting software. By supporting the AR and AP functions, the Accounting Clerk ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance while also contributing to reporting, audits, and general administrative support to keep the Finance department functioning smoothly.
This is a full-time, hybrid position, with a minimum requirement of three (3) days per week on-site.
Key Responsibilities (Included below but are not to be limited to)
Accounts Receivable (Support)

Assist AR with preparing and issuing invoices in accordance with member agreements.
-
Support in recording and reconciling incoming payments.
-
Help track customer/member accounts and follow up on outstanding balances as needed.
-
Provide assistance with maintaining AR aging reports and monthly reporting.
Accounts Payable (Support)
-
Assist AP in processing vendor invoices and employee expense reports.
-
Verify coding, approvals, and supporting documentation prior to processing.
-
Support the preparation of payment batches, including EFTs, cheques, and wires.
-
Help reconcile vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies.
-
Assist in recording and reconciling company credit card transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely documentation.
Record-Keeping and Data Entry
-
Enter financial data, invoices, and related documents into accounting software and general ledgers.
-
Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date financial records and filing systems.
Reconciliation
-
Support reconciliations by comparing bank statements with company records.
-
Assist with account reconciliations during month-end closing.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
-
Provide accurate data to support financial reports, budgets, and expense reporting.
-
Assist in gathering financial data for audits and ensure adherence to accounting principles, internal controls, and company policies.
Administrative & General Support

Collaborate with the Finance team to resolve billing and payment inquiries.
-
Perform general administrative duties such as answering phones, responding to emails, and managing mail.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Standard office hours with occasional flexibility required during reporting cycles.

Required to work primarily from the office.

Extended screen time and data-entry tasks.
Skills & Qualifications
-
1–2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience.
-
Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Experience with accounting software (Yardi or similar system is an asset).

Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
-
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
