About the role
Position Summary
The Electrical Technician is responsible for the assembly, wiring, testing, troubleshooting and commissioning of industrial electrical control systems, electrical panels, wiring harnesses and mobile equipment. This position supports the manufacturing team by ensuring all electrical assemblies are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with engineering drawings, electrical codes, company quality standards and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, wire and install industrial electrical control panels, junction boxes and wiring harnesses.
- Wire and integrate electrical systems for mobile shredding equipment, MDS trucks and stationary shredding systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials (BOMs) and technical drawings.
- Install, terminate, label and test electrical components, including relays, contactors, terminal blocks, sensors, switches, motors, PLC I/O and control devices.
- Perform electrical testing, continuity checks and functional verification prior to equipment release.
- Troubleshoot electrical wiring and control system issues during assembly and commissioning.
- Maintain accurate documentation of wiring changes, testing and quality inspections.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, company standards, and customer specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment using 5S principles.
- Follow all health and safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hazard identification and safe work procedures.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturing processes.
- Meet production schedules while maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce defects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering Technician, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Electrician or a related electrical program is preferred.
Experience:

Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial electrical assembly, panel building, machine wiring or industrial equipment manufacturing.

Experience wiring industrial machinery, mobile equipment or automated systems is an asset.

Experience working with PLC-controlled systems, motor controls and industrial automation is preferred.
Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge:
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and layout drawings.
- Strong understanding of industrial control panels, motor control circuits and low-voltage electrical systems.
- Experience with panel layout, wire routing, cable management and electrical component installation.
- Familiarity with PLC I/O wiring, sensors, relays, contactors, VFDs and HMI components is an asset.
- Proficient in the safe use of electrical hand tools, power tools, testing equipment and measuring instruments (e.g., multimeters, insulation testers).
- Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting and identify root causes of wiring or component issues.
- Basic computer skills for accessing drawings, work instructions and production documentation.
