Description The Manager, Corporate Accounting is responsible for overseeing the corporate accounting shared services portfolio ensuring strong financial controls and driving continuous improvement across accounting operations. This role manages the annual audit cycle, provides technical accounting expertise, and leads a team of seven accounting professionals. The Manager acts as a key advisor to the Senior Director on complex accounting issues and plays a critical role in risk mitigation and operational excellence.

Responsibilities Corporate Accounting & Financial Control

  • Develop, embed, and maintain a robust financial control framework ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

  • Oversee corporate accounting activities across Purolator Inc. and Purolator International, including:

  • general ledger maintenance and month-end close

  • account reconciliations

  • accruals and fixed asset accounting

  • journal entries

  • audit management

  • technical IFRS assessments

  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex accounting issues.

  • Ensure timely completion of audit management activities and maintain strong relationships with internal and external auditors.

  • Review and recommend process enhancements across PINC and PI to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Prepare and review reporting for CFO & VP Finance, including monthly income statements and key financial insights.

Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement

  • Support the Senior Director in resource planning and functional strategy for Corporate Accounting teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging technology, automation, and best practices.
  • Monitor industry trends and innovations, recommending strategies to enhance operations.
  • Collaborate with Finance leadership to develop and execute financial planning strategies.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the key point of contact for Canada Post, external auditors (EY), internal audit, and third-party consultants.
  • Partner with Shared Services and Business Leaders to ensure accurate and timely completion of finance operations.

People Leadership

  • Lead and manage a team of seven accounting professionals across two countries.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities for team members.
  • Set performance expectations and evaluate results against established goals.

Additional Responsibilities Education University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business/Commerce.

CPA or equivalent designation

Experience

  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
  • Experience managing multi-country teams and bridging cultural/operational differences
  • Strong track record of driving continuous improvement and change management
  • Proven experience managing shared services or centers of excellence in corporate accounting
  • Deep knowledge of accounting standards, IFRS compliance, statutory reporting, and parent company reporting
  • Expertise in month-end close, account reconciliations, accruals, fixed asset accounting, and audit management
  • Strong experience with SAP and/or SAP S/4Hana and advanced Microsoft Excel; Power BI is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to lead process reengineering and implement new policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to synthesize and present complex information to senior stakeholders
