About the role

The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics is working to transform our understanding of mental health by organizing, integrating, analyzing, visualizing and modelling data across all levels of the brain —from genes to circuits to behaviour. This multimodal data is gathered across the clinical environment including genetic, epigenetic, MRI, DTI, fMRI, EEG, actigraphy and electronic medical record data. Our research is performed in an open science environment, with an emphasis on reproducible data-driven research and a patient-centric approach to accelerate identification and treatment of mental illness. The KCNI Operations team includes the Research Informatics/IT Department, which provides cutting-edge services to the CAMH research community. 

The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics is currently recruiting a full-time, contract (12 months) Research Methods Specialist to assist with a number of research data management responsibilities across CAMH including: design, develop, test, operationalize, and maintain study databases and electronic data capture (EDC) solutions, primarily using REDCap and related research data platforms (e.g., XNAT, LabKey);

Develop and maintain integrations and data exchange workflows across research systems and platforms, including REDCap, XNAT, LabKey, and related tools;

Build and manage database structures, study configurations, user permissions, and technical access controls across multi-site research studies;

Develop scripts, automated workflows, and validation procedures for data extraction, transformation, cleaning, quality assurance, and reporting;

Pull, process, and analyze research data using tools such as R, SAS, Python, SQL, and related analytics technologies;

Develop dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Superset, or similar platforms;

Collaborate with project teams during the design, testing, deployment, and optimization phases of research data systems and workflows;

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to study databases, EDC platforms, integrations, and data workflows;

Collaborate with the Research IT team to support and enhance technical research data infrastructure and environments;

Develop and maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, SOPs, workflows, and related system documentation;

Support data governance, privacy, security, and research ethics requirements related to research data management and system access;

Promote FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable)

Identify and implement opportunities to improve data architecture, workflow automation, data quality, and operational efficiency across studies; and

Other related duties as required.

The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Research Data Lifecycle & Standardization.

This role will provide support to other programs, centres, or divisions in response to operational needs and organizational priorities. This position may then work under a matrix or shared reporting structure in collaboration with designated Research Operations Managers or Research Managers.

This role will be primarily located at 250 College Street and may require work at 1025 Queen Street West in response to operational needs and organizational priorities.
