POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the production (processing and boxing) of customer orders and ensuring products are boxed accurately and efficiently for shipment to mass retail partners. This role coordinates closely with Production, Sales and Logistics to meet customer requirements, delivery deadlines, and company quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Order Processing

  • Oversee day-to-day production operations, including potting, packaging, labeling, and boxing of customer orders to meet productivity, safety and quality goals;
  • Organize assembly orders to ensure they are completed on time and in full;
  • Maintain up-to-date production records and daily logs;.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales to clarify order specifications and resolve discrepancies;
  • Partner with Logistics/Shipping to confirm packaging accuracy and shipping readiness;
  • Ensure inventory of plants, upgraded containers, packaging supplies, and labels is readily available to process orders, following First In First Out;
  • Maintain quality standards for all processed orders, ensuring consistency with customer expectations;
  • Track production productivity, labor efficiency, and order accuracy;
  • Report inventory discrepancies, product damage, or operational delays promptly;
  • Make recommendations for improvements in workflow and process design;
  • Open tickets related to maintenance of production area and equipment;
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to align downtime for maintenance work order execution;
  • Ensure production areas are well-organized and space is utilized effectively.

Process & Standards Development

  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and One Point Lessons (OPLs);
  • Conduct regular SOP audits to ensure adherence and identify training or improvement needs;
  • Promote a Continuous Improvement mindset and take initiative to reduce waste, improve flow, and enhance crew performance.

ERP Data Entry & Reporting

  • Validate assembly orders;
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry in Microsoft Business Central (MSBC) related to the role.

Team Supervision

  • Supervise processing team members including performance management, discipline, vacation scheduling, etc.;
  • Communicate temporary labour requirements to Sr. Operations Manager and crew;
  • Promote a safety first mindset by enforcing safety protocols and focusing on cleanliness, organization and hazard prevention within the packing area;
  • Foster a positive culture focused on teamwork and accountability within the production team.

General Responsibilities

  • Work in compliance with company policies and procedures, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act;
  • Participate in meetings and other activities related to role;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a production, packing, or operations role in a high-volume environment, including at least one years’ experience supervising teams of direct and indirect reports;
  • Completion of secondary school diploma or GED equivalent;
  • Prior experience in a perishable goods environment strongly preferred.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated ability to use MS Office to support daily operations;
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize;
  • Effective supervisory skills to train and direct a small team;
  • Good judgment/ability to make decisions;
  • Strong verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to stand 8+ hours per day;
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs occasionally;
  • Ability to push 50-100 lbs frequently;
  • Working in a cool environment with moderate noise level and around moving machinery;
  • Available to work overtime hours and rotating Saturdays as required;
  • Must wear steel toe safety shoes/boots.
