How You Will Contribute:
Ciena’s Routing and Switching Portfolio (RSP) is a complete family of products for the access and aggregation tiers of the network. Typically deployed from the metro edge to the customer edge, these products provide Carrier Ethernet business, transport, and residential services. The Engineering Integration Team (EIT) is seeking a new graduate QA Engineer to join our team of test professionals. The successful candidate will develop test plans and Python test scripts, execute functional and integration level software testing of Carrier Ethernet switches and virtual technologies within the RSP organization.
Responsibilities:
- Review System Requirements and Functional Specification
- Develop comprehensive functional level test plans and test cases
- Identify test requirements and configuration, and create a lab environment for test execution
- Develop Python test scripts using the existing automation infrastructure
- Execution of test cases and reporting test results with artifacts using Test Rail
- Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams throughout the software release cycle to ensure thorough and compliancy with requirements and specifications.
- Collaborate with design team in debugging and isolating issues to facilitate quick turnaround on problem resolution
- Document test results, issues found, and generate weekly progress and status report
General Activities:
- Attend scrums meetings
- Participate in various task-related reviews and meetings
- Validate customers documentation to ensure accuracy
Experience
- Knowledge and/or hands-on experience with scripting using Python
- Knowledge and/or hands-on experience with traffic generators such as Ixia and/or Spirent Test Centre
- Knowledge and/or hands-on experience in some L2/L3 and PON technologies
- Familiarity with troubleshooting and debugging techniques
- B.Sc. in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent
- Some experience in software test capacity
Assets:
- Knowledge and/or hands-on experience in networking (switches, bridges, TCP/IP configuration, Telnet/SSH, FTP/TFTP)
- Knowledge and/or hands-on experience in MPLS, Ethernet OAM (Y.1731, 802.1ag), virtual technologies (VNF, SDN, Orchestration)
Pay Range
The annual pay range for this position is $64,100 - $102,300 CAD.
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
