The opportunity:
The University of Manitoba is seeking an Awards Systems and Business Analyst to be part of the build of a new Awards Management System.
You could be part of a dynamic team who analyze and define system functions, business processes, and user needs; perform functional configuration and maintenance tasks for the University/Financial Aid & Awards systems according to operational and business needs. The Analyst will assist in identifying, proposing, and implementing system enhancements, setting up and modifying awards functions, detailing business processes and requirements, and developing test plans and transition strategies. The Analyst will also be responsible to develop, produce, and update training materials.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- A Bachelor's degree or college diploma from a recognized college required, preferably with a major in management information systems, accounting and finance, business administration, public administration, computer information systems or a related field, or equivalent.
- A minimum of three years of advanced level experience in supporting Banner Student Aid and Student systems required.
- Experience in the functional configuration, modification, or maintenance of complex relational databases, required.
- Experience with Ellucian experience and workflow required.
- Experience with analyzing and improving business processes required.
- A successful track record of forming relationships and working with others across departments and within teams, required.
- Knowledge of university awards processes and governing regulations required.
- Knowledge of complex higher education student information/admission/financial aid/degree audit systems design and operation including characteristics and capabilities of information processing required.
- Knowledge of fundamentals of change management, process improvement and communications required.
- Knowledge of Fundamentals of functional systems analysis, configuration and testing and methods of developing operational process specifications required.
- Knowledge of principles of reporting using sets and subsets is required
- Knowledge of professional standards for key business systems and procedures, and methods including laws, ordinances, codes, and regulations (FIPPA/PHIA) related to student systems information processing is required.
- Knowledge of principles of technical documentation and training is required.
- Knowledge of the inter-relationships of campus departments and the basis of faculty specific policies and practices required.
- Knowledge of the University of Manitoba governance and the Office of the Registrar and Enrolment Services role in its application preferred.
- Experience in interpreting rules, regulations, and business processes at the University of Manitoba, preferred.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Verbal & written communication skills required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook) required.
- Strong attention to detail skills required.
- Good situational judgment in an academic environment required.
- Ability to learn the characteristics of new systems and update skills to adapt to changing technology
- Ability to initiate work and mentor others required.
- Ability to influence change and manage resistance to change required.
- Ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively is required. Ability to establish and meet priorities and project schedules required.
- Ability to interpret and apply applicable rules, laws, and procedures to student systems operations required.
- Ability to work with confidentially with discretion using tact, patience, and courtesy required.
- Ability to Present and lead discussions, chair meetings required.
- Proven record of working effectively and cooperatively with teammates, administrators, staff, end-users, project consultants and vendors required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
