Job Title: Senior Business Intelligence Specialist Location: Toronto, ON/Hybrid Duration: 164 business days with possible extension Client: Public Sector Pay Rate: CAD $85 - $90 per hour
Must have
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 8+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise Business Intelligence and analytics solutions. Extensive hands-on experience developing Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models, datasets, and executive-level reporting solutions. Strong experience designing enterprise data warehouses using dimensional modelling, including star and snowflake schemas. 7+ years of experience developing ETL and ELT pipelines using Python and AWS Glue. Strong expertise in SQL development, query optimization, and performance tuning using Amazon Redshift and relational databases. Hands-on experience integrating data from REST APIs, enterprise applications, cloud platforms, and relational databases. Experience working with AWS analytics services including Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue, S3, Athena, CloudWatch, and IAM. Experience integrating healthcare data using FHIR, HL7 v2, Smile CDR, AWS HealthLake, SMART on FHIR, and healthcare APIs. Experience implementing secure data access using IAM, OAuth2/OIDC, and role-based security (RBAC). Experience evaluating AI-assisted analytics, response quality, hallucination reduction, grounding, and intelligent reporting using Power BI AI capabilities and AWS Bedrock. Experience working with Pexip, Zoom APIs, NetIQ IAM APIs, and enterprise identity data structures. Public Sector experience is mandatory. Excellent analytical, documentation, stakeholder management, communication, and knowledge transfer skills.
Role and Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI dashboards supporting operational, executive, clinical, and business intelligence reporting. Develop AI-assisted dashboards utilizing Power BI Copilot, natural language queries, forecasting, anomaly detection, and intelligent analytics capabilities. Design and implement enterprise data warehouse solutions using Amazon Redshift, including dimensional models, fact tables, dimension tables, and semantic models. Develop and maintain AWS Glue ETL/ELT pipelines using Python to ingest, transform, validate, and load enterprise data into Amazon Redshift. Build automated data ingestion processes integrating data from NetIQ IAM, Pexip, Zoom, Smile CDR, AWS HealthLake, Provider Registry, Master Data Management, PHSD databases, application logs, and other enterprise data sources. Develop data quality validation, reconciliation, governance, cleansing, and monitoring processes to ensure high-quality enterprise reporting. Optimize Redshift performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, partitioning, and warehouse scalability improvements. Develop operational KPIs, healthcare utilization metrics, referral analytics, provider activity reports, platform adoption reporting, and executive dashboards. Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, data engineers, and healthcare teams to gather reporting requirements and deliver scalable analytics solutions. Support healthcare interoperability initiatives by integrating FHIR R4/R4B, HL7 v2, SMART on FHIR, Smile CDR, and AWS HealthLake data sources. Develop deployment pipelines, technical documentation, operational procedures, metadata, data lineage, and knowledge transfer materials. Provide production support, report optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous enhancement of enterprise BI and analytics solutions while ensuring security, compliance, explainability, and auditability.
