About the role
OVERVIEW:
Working within the Company’s Retail Finance Team, the Retail Store Auditor is responsible for working with retail sites to ensure accurate daily recording of financial information through the PDI system, balancing to electronic sales records, undertaking research where discrepancies occur and reconciling various transactions to the general ledger. The position is in-office in Ottawa.
Reporting into the Accounting Manager, the Retail Store Auditor will be a key member of our retail Finance Team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Validating and auditing site paperwork submissions, daily.
- Responding to retailer and customer requests and inquiries.
- Reviewing, entering and reconciling merchandise invoices and credits.
- Analyzing and rectifying reporting discrepancies with the store retailers.
- Obtaining and filing site documentation as required.
- Restoring data and files in instances of loss due to system error.
- Reconciling site method of payment, daily.
- Collecting and importing data files in the ERP system
- Assisting in the balancing of the general ledger for method of payment clearing accounts.
- Processing retailer charges and credits for miscellaneous expenses.
- Maintaining site specific configurations in the ERP system.
- Participating in the processing and administration of retailer changeovers.
- Reconciling reported data from third-party fuel sites to documentation.
- Analyzing new files required for import and providing pertinent information to business partners.
- And any other duties or projects that can reasonably be required, commensurate with the role.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- A post-secondary education in accounting, business administration, or equivalent is desirable.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting, administration or comparable role.
- A high degree of computer proficiency, including competence in Word and Excel is required.
- Ability to review large data sets and manipulate them where appropriate.
- Previous experience with a recognized accounting system is desired.
- Knowledge of retail POS processes would be considered an asset.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Sound organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
- The ability to communicate effectively in French is considered an asset.
