The Mood and Anxiety Service is currently seeking a full-time, temporary (up to 18 months) Social Worker 2 position to work within the Mood and Anxiety Ambulatory Service. This multi-disciplinary team provides assessment and treatment services for clients with mood and anxiety disorders. Treatment services include psychiatric follow up and medication management and structured psychotherapy.

The Social Worker 2 role will provide coordination and clinical interventions for clients in the mood and anxiety clinic and family members. You will work to coordinate referrals and care, provide assessment and treatment services. As a member of an interprofessional team, you will provide client-centered psychiatric care. You will work in partnership with clients, their formal and informal supports and the team to support clients’ successful integration into their communities. Your skills include the ability to make behavioural observations, mental status assessments, monitoring of clients’ responses to care interventions and documentation and ongoing communication with other team members and primary care partners. You have a sound knowledge of emergency psychiatry, crisis intervention, recovery, addiction issues and severe and persistent mental illness. You will liaise with community health care providers, both within and outside CAMH. Collaborations with community organizations and primary care sites may also be required.

You must be capable of providing supervision to social work students and contributing to the development of best practices unique to the assessment and treatment for those with mood and anxiety disorders. You will be expected to contribute to program development, research and educational activities of the service. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all the applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position may involve working in the day, evening or weekends, and is located at the Queen Street site.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a Master’s of Social Work degree combined with a preferred 3 years of post-graduate work experience and be registered and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. The candidate must have direct clinical experience in a mental health or addiction treatment setting. Experience utilizing cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, and dialectical behaviour therapy approaches is required; preference will be given to those who have certificates in these modalities. You must be eligible for an adjunct faculty appointment with the faculties of social work that has affiliation agreements with CAMH. Knowledge of models for internet-based treatment approaches, emergency psychiatry and crisis intervention principles and theory are required. Knowledge of CAMH and community services and experience with formulation and coordination of complex cases is essential. You possess demonstrated knowledge and experience of mood, anxiety and concurrent disorders and current treatment protocols. In addition, you possess fundamental knowledge and application of the recovery model. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written communication skills, computer skills, including word processing, electronic communication, and workload measures are essential. Bilingualism (French/English) would be an asset.
