Support Staff Temporary Roster
CBE Human Resources manages a roster of contingent casual on-call workers who are engaged to temporarily replace staff absences and to work on short-term projects. Work assignments may be scheduled in advance or the morning of the assignment. Roster staff enjoy the flexibility of working in schools and departments full-time or part-time with a minimum commitment of two days availability per week. If you are looking to work casually or if you would like to gain experience to move into a regular position, the Support Staff Temporary Roster maybe the opportunity you are looking for.
We are looking for reliable, self-motivated people to join our temporary roster team as on-call Library Assistants to provide support to students and staff by coordinating and circulating library resources and maintaining a positive learning environment.

- $23.82 (Grade C) per hour to start plus 6% vacation pay;

Position Description
Responsibilities
Library Resource Management:
- Manages and organizes library resources, shelving, weeding, scanning, minor repairs, locating and circulating books. Prepares new books with barcodes, stamping, entering into Symphony, updating card catalogs. Prepares and maintains inventory.
- Processes interlibrary loans and overdue lists.
- Assists in the operation and preventative maintenance of library equipment.
- Prepares displays and promotional materials, assisting with book fairs and visiting authors.
Student Support:
- Assists students and staff in the access and use of library resources such as electronic search techniques, location of resources and use of school computers, signing books out.
- May monitor students in library maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Coordinates volunteers and student assistants.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school completion supplemented by courses related to major responsibilities.
- One year of related experience in a library environment, preferably in a school setting.
- An equivalent combination of directly related education or directly related experience may be considered.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in word processing applications.
- Demonstrated electronic search technique skills.
- Accurate keyboarding skills an asset.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation.
- Must be able to take initiative, be self- motivated and have the ability to work independently.
- The ability to work with constant interruptions.
- Must be a continuous learner.
- Must possess the ability to relate to Calgary Board of Education students and staff and to participate collaboratively in a creative learning team environment.
Conditions of Employment
Police Information Clearance: Applicants new to the Calgary Board of Education who are offered employment must complete and pass a police information clearance before employment is confirmed.
