Role Overview

The Junior Accountant supports the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling daily cash closeout reports from clinics, assisting with payroll, and ensuring the smooth operation of accounting and reporting processes. This role contributes to the integrity of financial data, helps maintain internal controls, and supports the timely delivery of financial information to management.

Role Objectives

The Senior Accountant responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Cash Closeout & Banking Reconciliation:

• Review and reconcile daily cash closeout reports submitted by clinics, verifying accuracy and completeness.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between cash reports, POS summaries, and bank deposits.
• Track and maintain supporting documentation for all cash and deposit activity.
• Communicate with clinic managers and administrative staff to clarify or correct reporting issues.
• Ensure compliance with established internal controls and daily reporting procedures.

Accounting & Reporting:

• Assist with month-end close tasks, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting records to support financial reporting.
• Prepare supporting schedules for audits and management review.
• Contribute to the preparation of internal financial summaries and analysis.

Payroll & Employee Support:

• Assist with payroll processing, including validating timesheets, deductions, and adjustments.
• Support preparation of payroll reports and remittances.
• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of payroll and employee financial information.

Financial Controls & Process Improvement:

• Support the maintenance of internal control procedures for cash, payroll, and accounting processes.
• Identify areas for process improvement and recommend efficiencies or automation where possible.
• Ensure all accounting activities adhere to company policies and applicable financial regulations.

Collaboration & Team Support:

• Work closely with the senior accountant and other departments to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
• Assist with communication between the finance team and clinic management to resolve financial discrepancies
• Promote a collaborative, professional, and positive work environment.

Role Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred (co-op or internship experience acceptable).
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar).
• Basic understanding of payroll and tax regulations an asset.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
