About the role

The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are inviting applications to fill an academic Infectious Diseases position. This position will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto with a position description of Clinician Teacher (CT) at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The expected start date is July 1, 2026, or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.

The successful candidate will have clinical expertise in the assessment and management of Infectious Diseases. For the Clinician Teacher role, the candidate should have advanced training and a track record of teaching accomplishments. Teaching accomplishments will be evaluated by the presence of a strong level of interest in education, excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, formal training in teaching methodology, teaching awards, leadership as a clinical educator and other relevant experience.

The successful applicant will join the Division of Infectious Diseases (ID) at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, which provides inpatient consultation services for complex patient populations spanning the full range of medical, surgical, oncology, and trauma/critical care services. The role will include approximately 12-16 weeks of coverage of the inpatient ID service each year, at least one half-day per week general ID and Complex OutPatient Antibiotic Treatment (COPAT) clinic, and the opportunity to run additional longitudinal clinics including ID, COPAT and HIV.

Successful candidates must hold an MD degree and post-graduate certification in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or international equivlent and have, or be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Estimated annual remuneration will be in the range of $300,000-$350,000 (fee-for-service estimate) commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, experience, and volume of patients seen. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The successful candidate will be able to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
