Who We Are The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) works at the centre of the province’s power system, ensuring Ontarians have access to reliable and cost-effective electricity when and where they need it. We operate the province’s electricity grid 24/7, design, run and oversee the wholesale electricity markets, and plan and prepare to meet Ontario’s electricity needs – now and into the future.
The opportunity The Senior Analyst, microFIT Contracts, reports to the Supervisor, Contract Management who has primary responsibility for coordinating, managing and optimizing all IESO contract obligations relating to microFIT energy contracts. The IESO has awarded over 30,000 microFIT energy contracts. The Senior Analyst, microFIT Contracts, will assist in managing contract issues, be directly accountable for the design of processes and procedures to manage all of the IESO’s micro-renewable contract obligations, including but not limited to: effective issues management, management of contract amendment requests and compliance with the eligible participant schedule.
What You'll Do
- Effectively manage contract issues by meeting with IESO staff, respective contract counterparties, interested program participants, and when applicable, external agencies/organizations/stakeholders (e.g., Local Distribution Companies, transmitters, etc.).
- Review and analyse Supplier communications and requests, such as, proposed contractual amendments, Supplier death, and assignment requests.
- Maintaining and enhancing Beacon, the IESO’s contract management system for microFIT contracts.
- Complete daily updates to Beacon, ensuring information is current and make revisions to database structure as needed by the Contract Management Team to effectively manage contracts.
- Designing and producing reports and memos with a high level of accuracy, routinely and on an ad-hoc basis.
- Design and implement processes and procedures to manage all IESO micro-renewable contract obligations.
- Ensure all IESO microFIT contract obligations are fulfilled in accordance with approved processes.
- Coordinate microFIT payment and spot compliance audits; including liaising with internal and external stakeholders and contract holders on audit specifics.
- Seek continuous improvement opportunities.
Additional Duties And Responsibilities Include
- Providing guidance, advice and support to team members to ensure that contract management processes are effective, efficient, expeditious, and ethical and provides the best possible value to the IESO, Ontario’s power system, and Ontario’s ratepayers
- Providing resolution of major issues, particularly those that cross projects or have broad ramifications
- Acting as the point of contact for Contract Management contract requirements and obligations – will receive, prioritize, coordinate, monitor contract obligations and issues
- Supporting complex projects within the department, including from time-to-time those outside of Contract Management
- Advising on methods and recommend changes in IESO contract management policies, procedures, standards, processes, and strategies
- Developing original and creative solutions that meet business needs
- Seeking opportunities to provide value added solutions for projects
And Other Duties Or Responsibilities As May Be Assigned. What you need to succeed
- A strong customer service commitment including de-escalation skills
- Communication – excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
- Electricity industry – a grounding in legal, economic and/or technical aspects of electricity generation and conservation and demand management programs
- Electricity generation – knowledge of the technical aspects of electricity generation from renewable sources, including wind and solar PV,
- Generation contracts – thorough understanding of the various generation contracts used by the IESO for renewable generation, including the rational and importance for each of the various provisions in the contracts.
- Counterparty focus – demonstrated ability to work with contract counterparties in a challenging environment
- Ability to work effectively within a group and must be able to effectively coordinate with IESO staff and external stakeholders
- Knowledge and ability to prepare documents using Excel and Power Point.
- Must be detail oriented and must be able to handle multiple priorities in a faced-paced environment
- Excellent people management skills; experience working with and managing teams in a matrix environment

The IESO offers a hybrid work model program to most of our employees, based on business needs.
