Corporate Communications Specialist - Contract

ROLE AT A GLANCE
The Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for executing internal communications that support organizational priorities, enhance employee engagement, and ensure consistent messaging across the business.
This role works both independently, and closely with leadership, Human Resources, and cross-functional teams to deliver clear, timely, and impactful communications across multiple channels. The position plays a key role in connecting employees to company initiatives, programs, and leadership messaging.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Develop and execute internal communications plans aligned with business priorities and leadership direction
- Ensure consistency in tone, clarity, and brand across all communications
- Support executive communications, including CEO messaging and blog content
- Assist with sensitive communications such as workforce changes and leadership updates
- Develop and deliver communications for HR programs, policies, and employee initiatives
- Manage recurring communications including announcements, milestones, and engagement campaigns
- Oversee internal communication channels (email, SharePoint, Teams, digital signage platform)
- Lead weekly internal newsletter production and distribution
- Track engagement metrics and optimize communication effectiveness
- Oversee planning and execution of corporate town halls
- Coordinate messaging across departments to ensure alignment and visibility of key initiatives
- Partner with stakeholders across the organization to support communication needs
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- 3–6+ years of experience in internal or corporate communications
- Exceptional copy writing, editing, and storytelling/creative writing skills
- Ability to balance tasks independently while also engaging with various internal teams
- Experience supporting executive-level communications and handling sensitive messaging
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
- Experience working with internal communication platforms and digital tools
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills
- Experience supporting internal events and engagement initiatives is an asset
- Experience with Canva, InDesign or similar design tools is considered an asset
