Principal Responsibilities *
- Analyze certified gas mixtures and pure gases in a timely manner in order to meet the scheduled completion dates.
- Choose best analytical method for a specific analysis and/or develop new analytical methods and strategies when required.
- Decide best operating conditions for instruments, perform routine maintenance (if required) and calibration of all the lab instrumentation.
- Schedule work through the lab to make most efficient use of resources and instruments.
- Provide technical support to fellow employees and customers.
- Prepare certified gravimetric mixes, primary standards and mixtures requiring injection(s) of liquid chemicals, according to the production requirements, meeting scheduled completion dates.
- Contribute and/or assist in other areas, such as filling and cylinder preparation, in order to meet production deadlines, as directed by Management.
- Confirm all completed tasks in SAP in a time sensitive manner. Whenever not possible, keep and update a personal log of the tasks performed.
- Complete and/or sign all paperwork and records accurately and in a timely manner, including medical PCRs and incoming raw materials inspections.
- Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to Company’s SHEQ program.
- Report to management equipment malfunctions and/or productivity issues that can not be easily resolved in a time sensitive manner and that might cause delays in the production streamline.
- Follow 5S practices at their workstations and ensure high standards of safety and quality.
- Provide feedback and assistance to gas mixers.
- Recommend purchase of new equipment.
- Other duties (including outside job classification) as assigned / needed according to production needs, experience and education.
Required Education & Skills
- Sc. in Chemistry is required. As a minimum, college education in chemistry, chemical engineering or chemical engineering technology.
- Master degree in Chemistry or closely related discipline is preferred
- Advanced computer skills required.
- Proficient ability to use mathematical procedures, including simple statistical analyses and error propagation is required
- Fluent in English
Relevant Experience In The Field Is An Asset.
- High degree of safety consciousness
- Familiarity with cylinder handling is considered as an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude, including ability to comprehend technical manuals and procedures
- Proficient in the use of mathematical procedures.
- Advanced computer knowledge is required, including MS Office suite software.
- Awareness of CGA and CSA standards
- Ability to work independently.
- Capacity to effectively plan work and handle changing priorities.
- Willingness to learn.
- SAP experience is an asset.
