System Simulation Engineer - Intermediate

Job Summary:

Our client in Windsor, ON is looking for a System Simulation Engineer - Intermediate. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do:

System Simulation/ SiL Integration Engineer- HVAC/ Climate Control.

We are looking for a qualified candidate for the position of ‘System Simulation and Simulation Integration Engineer’ within the Propulsion Vehicle Thermal Management (VTM) team. This position primarily involves working in the areas of vehicle thermal management such as Air-Conditioning (AC) System, engine, battery and cabin cooling using one-dimensional tools, controls algorithm development for thermal systems, and simulation and controls integration. Candidate is expected to independently carry out 1D and 1D-3D simulations starting from obtaining data from different sources to report writing, develop advanced controllers for thermal systems, and integrate the system model with the controller. The position involves extensive interaction with system engineers, providing numerical solutions and suggesting design improvements based on simulation results.

Basics:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in using 1D tools like Amesim, GT Suite, Flowmaster, Kuli, AVL.
  • Cruise, Matlab/Simulink for solving flow/ thermal problems or 2 years’ experience in Applied CFD.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in controls development, implementation, and validation in Matlab and Simulink.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Aerospace Engineering with a thesis in Thermo-fluid/Controls simulation.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge in Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer.
  • Good knowledge of automotive systems and components and their functioning.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams with a pro-active approach.
  • Working knowledge of system bench/ dynamometer testing and vehicle drive cell testing.
  • Self-motivated with attention to details.
  • Must live in Ontario, Canada.
  • Hybrid position. Expected to be at least 3 days onsite.
  • Occasional travel to the US for meetings and/or trainings (Occasional meaning 1 to 2 times per month).
  • No driving of a vehicle required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experienced in presenting to senior management.
  • Team player that can also work independently.
  • Good problem-solving ability.
  • Must be very proficient in use of Office software.

Preferred:

  • 3+ years’ experience in vehicle/powertrain thermal management areas including powertrain.
  • Cooling, climate control or thermal protection. Experience in automotive HVAC, engine system.
  • Design and development.
  • Experience in simulation integration and algorithm validation via Model and Hardware in the loop (MiL/HiL) benches.
  • Expertise in advanced control algorithms including both classical and AI-based techniques.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools.
  • Familiarity with optimization and DoE methods.
  • Strong technical competence with demonstrated experience in methodology development.
  • Experience in controls modeling.
  • Co-simulation experience in 1D or 1D-3D framework.
