About the role
Not Ready to Hang Up the Tool Belt Yet?
Are you retired or semi-retired and looking for part-time work (up to 20 hours per week), flexible hours, or just something to keep you busy a few days a week?
Maybe you’re a seasoned carpenter or renovation professional who still enjoys the work — just without the long days, heavy production schedules, or large-scale projects.
Do you take pride in the little details? Love solving small problems? Enjoy making customers happy and leaving a home better than you found it?
If that sounds like you, Ackard may have the perfect fit.
We’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented QC / Warranty Handyman to help complete small warranty repairs and touch-ups in our completed renovation projects. Most service calls are under an hour and involve minor repairs like caulking, drywall touch-ups, trim adjustments, hardware tightening, paint fixes, and other finishing details.
This is a great role for someone who:
-
Enjoys working independently
-
Takes pride in quality craftsmanship
-
Likes variety throughout the day
-
Appreciates flexible, lower-stress work
-
Still wants to stay active in the industry without the demands of full-scale construction work
And let’s be honest — there’s something satisfying about being the person who makes the final little annoyances disappear.
What You’ll Do
As a QC / Warranty Handyman at Ackard, you’ll play an important role in maintaining the quality and reputation of our work after project completion. You’ll handle minor warranty repairs, touch-ups, and finishing deficiencies identified during quality control walkthroughs or homeowner service requests.
This role is focused on small, detail-oriented service work rather than large renovation projects. Most tasks are short-duration jobs that require strong problem-solving skills, professionalism, and attention to detail while working in occupied homes.

-

-

-

What You Bring
-
Experience in residential construction, finishing carpentry, handyman services, or warranty work
-

-
High attention to detail and pride in producing clean, polished work
-
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
-
Professional and respectful communication skills when interacting with homeowners
-
Strong time management and ability to complete small service calls efficiently
-
Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
-
Comfortable using mobile technology and construction software for updates and communication
Working Conditions
-
Frequent travel between residential job sites throughout the Edmonton area
-
Work performed primarily in occupied homes and completed renovation spaces
-
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
-
Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and ladder work
-
Exposure to construction dust, paint products, adhesives, and typical residential construction environments
-
Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
-
Regular use of power tools, hand tools, ladders, scaffolding, and other construction equipment is required.
-
Standard schedule is Monday to Friday, daytime hours; occasional overtime may be required to meet project timelines.
-
