POSITION:

Clinical Informatics Coordinator

DEPARTMENT:

Clinical and Medical Informatics

CONDITIONS:

Temporary Full-time for approximately eighteen (18) months

HOURS:

Approximately 75.0 Bi-weekly Hours

SHIFTS:

Days with occasional off-hours support (Evenings / Nights / Weekend)

7.5 hours

JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Informatics Coordinator facilitates clinical engagement and provides support in the advancement and use of the Electronic Health Record systems. As a Clinical Informatics expert, utilizes technical application knowledge and analytical experience to evaluate, select, design, build, implement, customize, and support the clinical information systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Liaise with clinical departments and technical teams to analyze existing processes and workflows; design and implement improvements that meet clinical requirements and mitigate patient safety risks.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to support the adoption, optimization, and safe usage of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, including developing, auditing, and reviewing procedures to ensure seamless implementation and ongoing operations.
  • Lead medium-scale projects by defining scope, determining resource needs, developing project plans, supporting budget allocation, coordinating system testing, and monitoring progress to ensure successful delivery.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver education and training sessions—including demonstrations, one-on-one sessions, just-in-time unit-based teaching, e-learning, and focus groups—to support staff in effectively using EHR systems.
  • Serve as a role model for positive change management, providing “at-the-elbow” support during project rollouts and ongoing clinical operations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor Degree in a Health Related Field
  • Registered with appropriate governing body
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent clinical experience in hospital environment
  • Experience in workflow and process redesign
  • Experience building and/or supporting clinical applications
  • Demonstrated success teaching and supporting clinicians in the use of electronic clinical applications
  • Ability to function well within a team setting and independently

PREFERRED:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Certificate in Change Management e.g PROSCI
  • Experience with clinical documentation in an Electronic Health Record and regional setting
  • Experience in workflow and process redesign
  • Experience building and/or supporting Meditech applications (OE, OM, PCS or PCI preferred)
  • Demonstrated success teaching and supporting clinicians in the use of electronic clinical applications
  • Strong project management and change management skills
