Job Description:

Position Purpose summary:

This position is to help with our Community Family Services within Summerside Ministry Unit. Helping with the food bank as well as our programs offered through CFS.

Accountabilities:

TASKS:

  • Help maintain the cleanliness of all areas used by the Community & Family Services team and clients (meeting rooms and washrooms, etc.)
  • Assist with sorting and putting away grocery stock
  • Assist with organizing the weighing of food donations and recording the required information.
  • Assist with repackaging larger donations in family-size portions (i.e., coffee, rice, flour, sugar)
  • Break down boxes and discard them in the cardboard bin
  • May assist the volunteer in picking up food donations and food rescues within the community
  • Participating in fundraising events

Performs general janitorial duties such as;

  • Cleaning the Food bank area, client waiting area and client washrooms.
  • Sweeping and mopping floors
  • Sanitizing tables/doors and other surface areas as needed.
  • Restocking supplies in the washrooms/ dining room area.
  • Assist with the soup-kitchen community lunch meal.
  • Greet guests
  • Help Package/plate desserts
  • Serve guests a lunch meal
  • Clean tables & wash dishes
  • Empty garbage/recycling/compost bins
  • Assist with the Food Bank food drives/collections, as needed
  • Assist with all programs within CFS
  • Other duties as needed

Accountabilities

Written and Verbal Communication

  • Able to keep accurate accounts of confidential client information

Working Condition

  • Typically, in the foodbank area and the Soup Kitchen area
  • Some outside activities, especially during the Christmas Season

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • No experience necessary, as training will be provided.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $16.50 to $16.90 with a maximum of $20.28.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
