About the role

The Narmco Group is an industry leader in the automotive industry for metal stamping and assembly. As a result of continuously growing our professional team, we have a challenging career opportunity for a Plant Superintendent. The successful candidate for this position will report directly to the Plant Manager and shall be responsible for ensuring that the area under his/her supervision fulfills the needs and goals of our quality, production and cost control systems in order to create a climate which leads to job security, improved working conditions and a world class competitive position.

Job Responsibilities

  • The Plant Superintendent promotes safe working practices in a safe and orderly environment. He/she meets and exceeds all legislated standards, and all standards procedures, rules and practices for loss control. He/she ensures that all aspects of the area under his/her supervision are in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
  • The Plant Superintendent shall direct and co-ordinate, through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with production of company metal stamping operations, utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of machines and equipment.
  • The Plant Superintendent shall confer with management personnel to establish production and quality standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, overtime specifications and delivery dates of products demanded by internal and external customers.
  • The Plant Superintendent shall plan and direct production activities and establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective, efficient operations and cost control factors.
  • The Plant Superintendent shall co-ordinate production activities with purchasing, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
  • The Plant Superintendent shall review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, health and safety and operational reports to determine causes of non-conformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems, on a continuous basis throughout the day, week, month and year.
  • The Plant Superintendent shall develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems, improve product quality, and insure these are implemented and maintained by supervised staff.
  • The Plant Superintendent shall assist production control in revising production schedules, standards, efficiencies and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • The Plant Superintendent shall consult with tooling engineer/human resources relating to the modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality products.
  • The Plant Superintendent shall conduct hearings to resolve or effect settlement of grievances, discipline, health and safety issues and refers unresolved grievances for management – union negotiations.
  • The Plant Superintendent shall supervise subordinates directly through the delegation of responsibilities, goals, objectives, and standards to Senior Area Manager or Area Manager depending on the facility.
  • It is understood that the Plant Superintendent shall have access to confidential information regarding the operation of its customers and employees under their supervision and this information shall not be divulged to any improper person without prior approval of senior management.

Job Requirements

Education and/or experience on product or supervision. (5 or more years’ experience preferred.) Strong organizational and communication skills, leadership ability, technical skills to meet job requirements, motivational skills to motivate supervised employees to achieve goals and objectives, lead continuous improvement.

  • 5 year(s): Supervisory experience in automotive industry. Working with automatic presses and die setting is an asset
